Reconstitution: We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1 % BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at ≤ -20 °C. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.

Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Background IGFBP-4 (insulin-like growth factor binding protein 4) is member of the IGFBP family of structurally similar secreted glycoproteins that maintain IGF-I and IGF-II in the circulation and direct them to their target tissues. IGF-binding proteins prolong the half-life of the IGFs and have been shown to either inhibit or stimulate the growth promoting effects of the IGFs on cell culture. They alter the interaction of IGFs with their cell surface receptors. IGFBP-4 consistently inhibits several cancer cells in vivo and in vitro.
